I remember this night like it was yesterday.  It was 1961 and I was 13 years old and my kid jazz band won a contest to perform at  the Atlantic City Jazz Festival  on the bill with Dinah Washington , Gerry Mulligan , Oscar Peterson and Art Blakey.  I was standing in the wings waiting to go on and looking out on the stage and this is what a see and hear as Dinah is singing her big hit of the day  “what a difference a day makes”  wow !!
